Running Adventures for Women! |
You're about to fall in love
with the exercise everyone loves to hate. |
Have you ever dreamed about:
Have you ever dreamed about what it would feel like to be a runner? If you're like I used to be, you're probably thinking that this is something for people who aren't like you... for people who are young and fit and don't have all those things pressing in on them like you do.
Or maybe you're thinking that this is a running program just like all the other programs that you've tried. You'll get all excited about it and then, just a couple of days into it, you won't be able to do it and you'll fail, just like all the other times. Or maybe, you're just so tired of not being able to succeed at an exercise program that you've decided that it just can't be very much fun, even if you DID succeed. Or is it that you try a program and after just a couple of weeks, everything comes crashing down and you can't find the time and no one really cares if you keep your commitment, anyway. If those kind of thoughts are running through your head right now, let me share some thoughts with you.For most people, it's hard to conceive of succeeding at something that they've never been able to do, especially, if you, like me, tried any number of times and failed. So, rather than even try, it's easier to settle back into your safe place where you can convince yourself that you aren't envious of those who are living an active life, who are going out and running, enjoying the mornings and coming back to their day recharged and refreshed or spending the day anticipating the quiet solitude of their evening run. It's easier to stay slightly (or more) overweight and very out of shape. It's easier to be vaguely (or very) dissatisfied with yourself for not doing more for your health. But, I want you to imagine a different future for yourself for just a few minutes.
What would it be like if you could change this around, become a regular exerciser,
feel better in your body?

You see, my marriage was failing, my job was crazy, my son was grown and gone, my aging mother needed more from her family than she was getting and my mouth was out of control. Feeling the pressure of my life falling to pieces, I turned to food. For the first time ever, I hit the morbidly obese category and I could no longer avoid facing my weight. I was fortunate. In my stumbling attempts to locate some support for my new-found determination to change, I came across a online diet site with a great support system. Not only was there diet advice galore, but online forums existed for every imaginable demographic and lifestyle! I found groups here who could share my struggle for health.
ME (not even my heaviest) in 2002As I began to be a bit healthier, I knew I had to build exercise into my program. I tried walking, but with limited available time, I knew I couldn't get the intensity I needed. When a group member talked about her running program, I knew I had to try it, even though I'd failed many, many, many times before to become a runner. I started on a very hot day in May. I made it, just barely, through the first day. But when I told my group, I received so much support, I had to try the next run. And the next and the next and the next. By the time I got through the 12 week program, I was hooked. And thinner! And determined to finish my diet and go on to bigger and better things.
Eventually, I left my travelling job to care for my mother in her last years. I decided to follow my passion and start a business where I could help women like the one I used to be. I became a personal trainer and running coach and developed a program out of all that I had learned as a beginning runner and an encourager of other beginning runners.
ME at my goal weight!Answering the challenge to run was what put me on the path to my dreams. I'm living my dreams. Running and working out are a huge part of my daily life, but more important to me is seeing those I work with growing and blossoming from the same soil that has nurtured me. |
It's time for you to step out from the excuses and the doubt and embrace yourself and your inner athlete. It's time for you to take that leap of faith that says "I am worth being a strong, beautiful, healthy, fit woman!"
|
"Jeanne is absolutely the best. She is a natural leader, has boundless enthusiam
and energy, totally understands the fitness needs and challenges of women, is a gifted
and intuitive coach, and effectively relates and supports clients in various stages
of their fitness journeys, because she has 'been there.'" |
|
|
"Jeanne is the most awesome personal trainer, I lost sixty pounds
with her running program and feel better than I ever have in my life.
I continue to train with Jeanne and wouldn't want another trainer." |

Debby and Joy didn't think that they could change their lives through something as simple as signing up for a running program. But they did! And the changes are more than just their dress sizes and the occasional medal from running a 5k. They've changed their inner selves as well. They're more confident and vital and they project their accomplishments in everything they do.
If you're like most of my beginning runners:
Yeah, that all sounds terrific, but I don't have any idea where to start. And you don't understand, I have kids, a husband, a job. I don't know how I could fit all THAT into my life!
I hear you, I really do! When I started my exercise program, I was in the middle of a divorce, fixing up a house that I had to get sold in one state and building a new house 1800 miles away. I had just switched jobs and I spent 4 1/2 days a week in a different place from EITHER of those, working 10-12 hour days.
The truth is, just like everything else worthwhile in your life, there's no perfect time to start exercising. If it's not one thing, it's another. I get it. But, if you don't take care of yourself, where will you be in 5 years? or 10?
And, I've designed KICKStart with something extra for people just like me, and probably, just like YOU.
You see, when I started my own running career, I found the thing that helped me stick to it, more than anything else, was that my group was waiting for me to report in for EVERY run. I had to do it, or explain to them why I backed out.
And, actually, it helped that they were online friends - people distant to me, but who cared about my welfare and progress. If they were husband, son, sister or mother, I would have resented their "checking up" on me. I would have defied them just because.
Through RunMinder, KICKStart provides you with the accountability you need, EVERY RUN, EVERY TIME. We'll send you a reminder just minutes before you're due out the door, with extra motivation for your run. Then, when you're finished, let us know. If we don't hear from you, we'll follow up and make sure that you're finding the time to stick to your commitment. You choose the times; we'll help you keep your resolve!
So how well does this work?
These results are typical of the people I work with and who commit to my programs. I help people reach their dreams by helping them to have a body they love and the ability to do more with it than they ever thought possible.

"Whether you work face to face with Jeanne, or receive her coaching
and advice via email, you will experience individualized attention and
encouragement. She helped me prove to myself that I could, in fact,
run for longer than five minutes!
She builds esteem and spirits as well as bodies." |

It's NOT a quick weight loss solution. I wouldn't lie to you and promise you could lose 5, 10, or 60 pounds throughout this program, even though I've had runners who HAVE lost that much. In order to lose weight, it takes more than just adding a few runs into your week. BUT, I will give you the TOOLS to weight loss from exercise to stress control to proper nutrition. And with that, you, too, can acheive a healthy weight in a safe and sustainable way. It's NOT going to ensure that you get into the Olympics as a runner. Or even, for that matter, on the podium at your local 5k (I won't promise you won't, though). This isn't a speed program. It's about building your cardiovascular and muscular endurance to RUN (yep, run, the whole way!) a 5k. If you're already a runner and you're looking to go longer (10k, half marathon, marathon) or looking to take time off your Personal Best, contact me about Ignite!'s intermediate and advanced packages. It's NOT for everybody. "Wait a minute," you say, "after you've gotten me all excited about the prospect? You're saying it's not for me." Well, I didn't say that at all. If you have the determination and discipline to do the work, the program WILL work for you, in most cases. IF you have joint damage or a cardio-respiratory disorder, this program ISN'T for you. You must be healthy enough to do a slow, controlled walking-to-running program. Please check with your doctor if you have ANY qualms at all about your physical condition. |
This is simply the best all-round running program for novices on the market today. There are "faster" (SAY they can get you to a 5k in less time) programs out there and there are some that give you some of the same instructional components I'll be giving you. But there aren't any that will give you the same level of instruction and support and accountability as KICKStart.

What KICKStart is:
Classes begin soon! Contact Ignite! for start dates! You may be wondering why you can't start NOW, since, after all, you'll be doing your running on your own time. Well, it's like this. We've found that people like you and me have more fun and get better results if we work with a group. So, your class meets regularly, even though it's online, to give you that support you need! *** If you've already got the running bug and don't NEED the accountability, RunningStart may be better suited to your needs. All the same great instruction, pre-recorded workouts, readiness programs and even an online group of running friends, but we won't check in to see if you've gotten your runs done. It'll be up to you. If this option appeals to you, visit our RunningStart page to sign-up! |

Each run is provided for you, both as an audio program and in writing. You won't have to watch your watch as you run; just download the program to your iPod, mp3 player or smartphone and I'll talk you through the whole workout, from warm-up to cool down, including stretching. If you prefer to time yourself, use the written program instead. When it comes to your race, I'll provide you a pre-race warm-up and stretch. You'll be running for your FIRST PERSONAL BEST! |

Get ready to start It's all in the preparation. Well, not really, but our program gets you started right by making sure you're ready. As soon as you sign up, we send you videos and notes to help you through everything you need to know for your first run. We'll go over buying shoes, stretching and how to fit the program into your already busy life. Then, we'll lead you into a walking program that will get your body moving and will make sure that you are capable of doing the first week's runs. Other programs skip these crucial steps, but at Ignite!, we try to make sure that your first running steps are the right ones! |

A whole class full of other runners You'd think you wouldn't find much support in an online class, but we know that the support of other beginners is a key to your success. So, we've created The FirePit, an online forum where you can communicate with your classmates. Your class will have its own online forum. Go online and talk with others who are going through the same program at the same time. Your experiences may benefit them, while they may be able to help or reassure you about something you are going through. |

Everything you need to know to be a runner NOW! Even though running is a pretty simple activity, it's remarkable how much actually goes into it. Each week, you'll have the opportunity to attend a live webinar where I'll go over all the things I've learned while becoming a runner and a running coach. I've distilled this information from dozens of coaches, from certification classes and the best from magazines and books to prepare this program with as much running and exercise knowledge as I can give you. We'll go over everything from how to tie your shoelaces to what to do at a waterstop in a race. And it goes beyond just running skills. We'll cover nutrition, cross-training, goal setting and more. Everything you need to know to make running and regular exercise a part of your life. |

Access to your personal running coach Each week, the webinar will conclude with a question and answer session. You can even "pre-submit" questions to be sure it will be covered. If you need a more immediate response, there will be a "coach's answers" section in your online chat area, where you can post a question and get an answer within 24 hours. |

|
Your personal runner's journal Each week, we'll supply a journal page for the weekly runs. Besides having a description of your run for the day, these pages should be used to record your progress. You'll have room to record date, time, whether you had running companions, and any other details you'd like to remember. |

Motivation and encouragement We've built them into the program from the very start. From the journaling pages that contain your workouts, to the webinars, to the audio files, to the online chat, we'll keep you excited about your program and provide reassurance through your doubts. We'll help you find and register for your first 5k and, after you're done, we'll hold a party in honor of you and your online friends at our last class webinar! |
